Well since my gaming group is rather remote and won't be participating in the actual thing, we decided to run our own event as soon as we get a copy of the new rules.
I'm trying to work out what army I want to play though, Eldar or Imperial Guard. Apparently the guys are under the impression that the Eldar are far more of a threat than my Imperial Guard - it's probably true for me on a personal level. Still, I feel like my Eldar have been getting left out a lot, but I also feel that a list using Imperial Guard is the way to go for the ultra kick-in-the-teeth destruction army.
The upside is my Imperial Guard I pretty much have all the models now to build the army I'm looking for. The downside is there is a lot of assembly and painting to do. Conversely, my Eldar need an overhaul in terms of getting some new models (mostly transports) but the troops going in them are pretty much done as well.

In the end, I decided to go with my Imperial Guard since it would require the least investment in money and time. I'm still working out list details...
