At the moment the GMs are working on a new leveling system.

A "rank" system will be introduced which will cover equipment.
Exp will give stat upgrades
Loyalty for the shop
Quest will cover whatever the character feels they need.

We need to work some things out still and need to test them to see how they will work. We will have updates on this matter shortly

New Changes:

Note: This is not retroactive

The Aftermath war is the place where reputations are made and men and aliens will become legends. Not only will the fierce fighting give them experience and hone their skills but the reputations of the men, women and worse fighting throughout the sector will bring them much reward and be as useful a tool as any weapon in whatever future they have left.

Each duelling character will have a reputation they seek to build as they grow and develop. With a good reputation things will come their way and rewards will be won and better fights will be had. However if their reputation takes a dive they will find things get a bit harder from then on in

All characters start with 0 reputation points to begin with and their rank will be 0. They will begin to gain points and build their reputation and progress up the ranks as either they are promoted within their own military structures or on the threat index of their enemies.

Building a reputation.
You get +1 reputation point for winning a duel and a further +1 if the duellist has three or more times the reputation as you have ( i.e. 1Vs 3, 2 Vs 6, 10 Vs 30, 79 Vs 237)

So what happens when you gain ranks? and what is this ranking all about?
Gaining a rank means you have risen in rank in your sides Forces. You are trusted with more equipment and more responsibilities. GMs will grant you extra equipment but this will affect your point cost.

Demotions:
Those stripes come off just as easily as they are sown on. Should you be demoted they will lose whatever benefit they gained until they reach that level again. You are demoted when you lose Rank points below what is required for that rank.

Rank 0: Starting Rank
No special bonuses, gains +1RP for each victory and +1RP for defeating an opponent with 3 times or more RP as them.
Rank 1: 35RPs
Reputation has no grown so much that they will lose 1 RP point for every defeat.
Character gains one piece of Bonus equipment designated by GM
Rank 2: 70RPs
Character gains “Heroes Don’t Die” special rule.
Rank 3: 100RPs
Opposing Characters will gain and additional 1 rank point when facing you. Character gains equipment item chosen by GM.
Rank 4: 200RPs
Opposing characters gain +2RP for facing you. Character gains one piece of Bonus equipment designated by GM
Rank 5: 300RPs
Opposing Characters gain 3RPs for facing you. Character gains one piece of Bonus equipment designated by GM

Heroes Don’t Die:
Legends are legends because they somehow defy fate and survive to fight and kill another day, when a reputation has grown so much a duellist can also attempt to defy fate.
Heroes Don’t Die:
Upon the roll of the result “dead” on the injury table the character can choose to sacrifice 10xD6 reputation points for a reroll on the injury table, if this puts the character below the points of the rank they're on will lose whatever equipment they had until regaining that rank, the same as being demoted

Clarrification:

Injury implies you have actually injured a character, hence full recovery is not an injury so does not count for Favour/loyalty.

Also Death and injury are two seperate categories and you only count one (i.e. death + win, NOT death+ injury + win)

Have updated the loyalty rules to be a bit more clear. From now on if it does not say it is cumulative then it is not. This change will NOT retroactive.

Okay, question.  Not sure if it goes here.

Last time I was on AIM I think I was about 10 years old.  Almost done with college now...  How does one join a 'Board' over AIM?  Trying to search for a public chat room called 'Aftermath Duels' but the AIM site is suffering from too many people on at once and it will not search.  Or so that is the excuse it is giving me.

http://chat.aim.com/categories

Yeah I can wait a bit and see, but if this is faster it would be nice to know if I am barking up the wrong tree.

you need to invite yourself in. Generally speaking press alt-c then put your name into the invite spot and name afterath duels as the room name.
